Position Overview:

The Cybersecurity Intern will support the Dutch Bros’ security team in protecting systems, networks, and data from cyber threats. This role provides hands-on exposure to real-world security operations, risk management, and defensive technologies while working alongside experienced cybersecurity professionals. The intern will gain practical experience across multiple security domains, including monitoring, vulnerability management, incident response support, and security awareness. This position is ideal for students or early-career professionals interested in building a foundational career in cybersecurity.

*For the duration of the program (June 1st - July 31st) housing will be provided, however reliable transportation is needed to and from the program. Additionally, the program is rooted in professional development, full-time employment conversion is not guaranteed.

Job Qualifications:

Required Qualifications:

  • Currently pursuing or recently completed a degree in Cybersecurity, Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field

  • Basic understanding of cybersecurity concepts (e.g., malware, phishing, firewalls, encryption)

  • Familiarity with operating systems such as Windows, macOS, or Linux

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills

  • Ability to communicate technical concepts clearly, both verbally and in writing

  • Willingness to learn and take direction in a fast-paced environment

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Coursework or hands-on experience in cybersecurity, networking, or systems administration

  • Familiarity with security tools such as SIEMs, vulnerability scanners, or endpoint security solutions

  • Basic knowledge of networking concepts (TCP/IP, DNS, HTTP/S)

  • Exposure to scripting or automation (e.g., Python, PowerShell, Bash)

  • Understanding of security frameworks or standards (e.g., NIST, ISO 27001)

  • Prior internship, lab work, or participation in security clubs, CTFs, or hackathons

Location Requirement: 

This role is located in Tempe, Arizona. This position is required to be in office 4 days per week (Mon-Thurs); Fridays are optional remote work days.

Key Result Areas (KRAs):

  • Assist with monitoring security alerts and events from security tools (e.g., SIEM, endpoint protection platforms)

  • Support vulnerability management activities, including scanning, validation, and remediation tracking

  • Help document security procedures, playbooks, and technical findings

  • Participate in risk assessments, audits, or compliance activities under supervision

  • Assist in investigating potential security incidents and collecting relevant data

  • Support identity and access management tasks (user access reviews, least privilege checks)

  • Contribute to security awareness initiatives and training materials

  • Collaborate with IT, engineering, and operations teams on security-related projects

  • Perform other cybersecurity-related tasks as assigned

Physical Requirements:

  • In-Office Environment: Must be able to work in a busy, crowded, and loud office with frequent distractions and interruptions

    • Must be able to collaborate in-person with occasional impromptu in-person meetings 

  • Office Conditions: Adaptability to typical office conditions, which may include exposure to air conditioning, heating, artificial lighting, and varying noise levels

  • Mobility: Ability to sit, stand, reach, twist, stretch, and work at a desk for long stretches.  Must be able to occasionally move or lift office items up to 25 pounds

  • Hearing Requirements: Hearing must be sufficient or correctable to ensure clear understanding of spoken information, including participating in virtual meetings and phone calls. Use of hearing aids or other assistive devices is acceptable if needed.

  • Reading and Writing Proficiency: Ability to read and write in English is essential for processing documents, drafting reports, and following up on necessary actions. Proficiency in written communication is required to handle job-related tasks effectively.

  • Vision Requirements: Vision must be adequate or correctable to perform essential job duties, such as reading documents on a computer screen and using other visual tools. Use of corrective lenses or other measures to meet visual requirements is expected if needed.

  • Technology Proficiency: Must be proficient in operating a computer and other office productivity tools such as printers, scanners, and collaboration software. 

  • Effective Communication: Must possess strong verbal and written communication skills to interact effectively with team members, clients, and other stakeholders via email, video conferencing, and other in office communication tools.
