Primary Purpose

Creates, maintains, and executes security controls to prevent cyber threats.  Enforces security policies by administering and monitoring security profiles, reviews security violation reports and investigates possible security exceptions, updates, maintains and documents security controls. Actively engage in actions that contribute to the overall mission and strategic plan of Clear Creek ISD.

 

 

Qualifications Education/Certification

Bachelor’s degree or higher in an Information Technology related field

Security+ is required or must be attained within one year of hire

Advanced Cybersecurity Certification Preferred such as

  • Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP)
  • Certified Information Security Manager (CISM)
  • GIAC Certified Incident Handler (GCIH)
  • GIAC Certified Forensic Analyst (GCFA)
  • GIAC Certified Intrusion Analyst (GCIA)

Must pass CCISD Drug and Alcohol Abuse Standards.

Must pass criminal history and MVR driving record check as required by CCISD

 

Special Knowledge/Skills

Effective verbal and written communication, interpersonal, and telephone etiquette skills.

Ability to provide technical leadership in cybersecurity to a diverse group of stakeholders.

Expert knowledge of implementing and supporting enterprise network equipment, systems, and applications.

Expert knowledge of cybersecurity systems such as firewalls, intrusion detection and prevention systems, network access control, and enterprise monitoring systems.

Ability to set priorities and handle multiple complex assignments.

 

Experience

Minimum of 5 years of experience supporting enterprise technology systems and services.

Experience with cybersecurity systems, processes, and practices.

 

Major Responsibilities and Duties

  1. Provide leadership/guidance and act as the subject matter expert in cybersecurity to ensure district systems are secure and reliable. 
  2. Ensure District compliance with Cybersecurity policies and framework framework.
  3. Protects system by defining access privileges, control structures, and resources.
  4. Recognizes security violations and inefficiencies by identifying abnormalities, reporting violations, and conducting periodic audits.
  5. Work cooperatively with district/campus leadership and external vendors to resolve issues.
  6. Implements security improvements by assessing current situation; evaluating trends; anticipating requirements.
  7. Awareness training of the workforce on information security standards, policies, and best practices.
  8. Enhance systems by implementing and maintaining security controls such as but not limited to installing data encryption and other security measures.
  9. Mitigating threats by gathering information and developing plans.
  10. Keeps leadership informed by preparing performance reports, communicating system status.
  11. Work with Campuses and Departments to ensure proper permissions are set on both public and private folders.
  12. Work with departments sending data outside of the district to ensure security.
  13. Stay up-to-date professionally through the selection of quality professional learning opportunities.
  14. Actively engage in actions that contribute to the overall mission and strategic plan of Clear Creek ISD. 
  15. Research district policy, precedent, and current practices prior to taking action.
  16. Demonstrate integrity and ethics.
  17. Utilize time wisely for effective management of job responsibilities.
  18. Maintain punctuality in daily work times, appointments, and meetings. 
  19. Meet task completion deadlines established by supervisor. 
  20. Maintain friendly customer-service-driven interactions with all stakeholders, students, teachers, administrators, and co-workers.
  21. Work cooperatively with co-workers and supervisors to ensure that the goals of the school/department are met.
  22. Maintain a positive and professional tone in all communication (i.e. email, written, and verbal).
  23. Perform other duties and accept other responsibilities as required.
