Class Description

This position is for administrative and technical work supporting and securing the computing and network infrastructure for the isolated and cloud teaching environments maintained by the School of Business Technology and Law at CCBC. While the computer and networking equipment is on the Catonsville, Essex and Owings Mills campuses there is an expectation of travel to any campus or other institutions.

Minimum Requirements

Associate’s degree in cybersecurity, programming, or an IT related field and three years of full-time experience in cybersecurity or a bachelor’s degree in technology, cybersecurity, programming, or an IT related field and one year of full-time experience in cybersecurity.  Security+ and Network+ required within the first six months of employment.  CCNA, Azure, AWS and other related IT certifications are preferred. Valid driver’s license with less than five (5) points on driving record.

Class Specific Essential Duties

  1. Maintain and document the existing cloud and isolated teaching environments. 
  2. Design, test, implement, and document enhancements to the cybersecurity teaching environments.
  3. Support and resolve issues reported by the faculty which utilizes the cybersecurity teaching environment.
  4. Develop maintenance and deployment processes and schedules which address the teaching needs of the faculty.  
  5. Work with outside vendors to install and maintain third-party appliances and products installed within the isolated teaching environments.
  6. Assist with the research, development and implementation of new products and technologies which are to be installed within the cloud or isolated teaching environments.

Position Specific Essential Duties

  1. Provide technical support for ongoing development for the cybersecurity program within the School of Business, Technology, and Law (SBTL). 
  2. Ensure that all cybersecurity and network activity remain isolated and does not affect the CCBC production networks.  
  3. Provide problem resolution for systems software and hardware associated with on-premises and cloud classroom operations. 
  4. Install, configure, and maintain the isolated networks infrastructure related to cyber security classes. 
  5. Provide support for upgrades, rollouts and special projects and events, as required. 
  6. Maintain and troubleshoot servers and related equipment. 
  7. Ensure the maintenance and stability of Windows and Linux servers throughout the isolated on-premises and cloud networks. 
  8. Coordinate server, desktop and cloud software implementations to be used either on premises in the isolated labs or remotely at the students’ location depending on the applications. 
  9. Prototype cybersecurity applications and appliances for possible use within the cybersecurity teaching environment. 
  10. Assist in configuring servers and related equipment for student cyber challenges. 
  11. Configure and support the Azure cloud environment to support remote classroom work, including various digital forensics packages installed within Azure cloud. 
  12. First point of contact for the Baltimore Cyber Range (BCR). 
  13. Schedule and support CCBC student online sessions at Catonsville with the Baltimore Cyber Range. 
  14. Set up equipment for visitor demonstrations at Essex, Catonsville, and Owings Mills.
